March 14 New job and exciting prospectsI couldn’t believe my ears when I got a call from Discovery saying that I got a job there as a data capturer. I went for an interview on Monday and I thought that things went well. The lady and guy that interviewed me were really nice and it wasn’t as stressful as I thought it was going to be. For those who don’t know this was actually the first interview I ever went for. So when I go the call to say that I was accepted I wanted to jump for joy however, I could do so cause of the fact that I was at work… I had to write my resignation letter (my first ever) and to hand it in. The hardest part of all was telling my boss that I actually had to leave next Monday to start work on Tuesday. He was not really impressed but hey you have to go where it’s best for you. If I had the choice I would have given them a longer notice but unfortunately I couldn’t. So by this time next week I will be in my new office and doing some thing totally new to me. In fact on Wednesday it’s public hols here so after my first day I will have a day off. How cool is that? I am really looking forward to starting there and having what I call a “real job”. I had promise myself that I would get a little some thing for Debbie, my cousin’s baby, as it is his girlfriend that tipped me about the job. I adore shopping for baby things; every thing is so cute and really colourful.
Things are going to be so much better from now and I can really make a future for Fabien and I. We can now plane a bit more and I can secure one of my goals that of having him here with me. I really do miss him and I want us to be able to have a “normal’ life together. This is going to be great for sure… Oh I then I am going to be able to buy a lot more shoes (I am crazy about shoes: all style and colours) and then a car… I was thinking about the car and I am not sure that I would be able to get a new one… Anyhow I was wondering what kind I should get well after I get my licence. I know I am a little ahead of myself right now but it great to daydream… I am open to suggestions. Do you think that your car reflex your personality? I don’t really know much about cars so for me as long as it takes me from A to B… March 07 Odours to effects to love...This morning at work my boss’s girlfriend came to see him…. She was wearing this perfume and the moment that it hit my nose I felt sick in the tummy. I am sure that it must be this really expensive designer perfume but gees … I sat down there after thinking about different odours that I like and disliked. Here is a list of a few:
Like: Fresh cut grass The smell the cement has just after a light rain. Tommy girl… A baby (they always smell so nice expect when they have to have their nappies change) My fiancé (the mixture his perfume and his natural smell are just intoxicating) There are a few more but it would be a mission to write them all down
Dislike: My boss’s girlfriend’s perfume (whatever the name is) Every kind of excrement Rotten organic material… I think that I will stop here cause I am getting sick in the tummy already.
I thought I would go on the net to check if there was any common smells that people like and dislike. I know that its subjective but I gave it a shot…
A few hours later… here are my findings
I didn’t really find a database with common odours that people like or dislike. However, I came across other interesting research done about smells.
Did you know that the smell of grapefruit makes a man perceive a woman as being younger then what she really is? The scientist that discovered is Dr Alan Hirch he also found that the combination of lavender and pumpkin increases arousal in men. They were able to measure this through the increase in blood flow. There are more examples of what effect certain odours can have in this article http://www.delta-sky.com/Oct2005/Doctor/index.html. There are also research done about the effect of odours have on people. There is this really nice one where they put 15 women and men in room that smelt of lavender; lemon or dimethyl sulfide and they had to work there. It was shown that the people in the room with lavender were in a good mood. I think that I should put lavender oil in my office so that I make sure that my boss is in a goodish mood all the time. He is a bit of a pain in the A** most of the time J. There are more article to read about this http://chemse.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/17/1/27
Now about some other kind of odours… Body odors
It is also said that odour (body odour) also determines the attraction between people of the other sex. Believe it or not urine and sweat are the kind of odours that build attraction between man and woman. Urine and swear contain hormones that can be smelt unconsciously but either the woman or the man. The hormones can create sexual attraction between two people. Each person’s body odour is also said to be unique. They are a direct representation of your genes. Keeping mind the other statement that men and woman are attracted to each other cause of body odour, all in all this means that the guy or girl that you are with has genes that is compatible with yours. Mmm so you don’t really fall in love with some one but its more like unconsciously knowing that it’s the right person to make babies with!?
I am a firm believer in love, love at first sight and having a soul mate… are there other like me? March 02 Little PoemA drunken man in an Oldsmobile. They said had run the light That caused the six-car pileup. On 109 that night. When broken bodies lay about "And blood was everywhere," The sirens screamed out eulogies," For death was in the air. A mother, trapped inside her car," Was heard above the noise; Her plaintive plea near split the air: "Oh, God, please spare my boys!" She fought to loose her pinned hands; "She struggled to get free," But mangled metal held her fast. In grim captivity. Her frightened eyes then focused "On where the back seat once had been," But all she saw was broken glass and two children's Seats crushed in. Her twins were nowhere to be seen; "She did not hear them cry," "And then she prayed they'd been thrown free, " "Oh, God, don't let them die! " Then firemen came and cut her loose, " "But when they searched the back, " "They found therein no little boys, " But the seat belts were intact. They thought the woman had gone mad "And was travelling alone, " "But when they turned to question her, " They discovered she was gone. Policemen saw her running wild And screaming above the noise "In beseeching supplication, " Please help me find my boys! They're four years old and wear blue shirts; "Their jeans are blue to match."" "One cop spoke up, ""They're in my car, " And they don't have a scratch. They said their daddy put them there And gave them each a cone, Then told them both to wait for Mom To come and take them home. "I've searched the area high and low, " But I can't find their dad. "He must have fled the scene, " "I guess, and that is very bad." "The mother hugged the twins and said, " "While wiping at a tear, " “He could not flee the scene, you see, " "For he's been dead a year." "The cop just looked confused and asked, " "Now, how can that be true? " "The boys said, ""Mommy, Daddy came " "And left a kiss for you." “He told us not to worry "And that you would be all right, And then he put us in this car with "The pretty, flashing light” We wanted him to stay with us, " "Because we miss him so, " "But Mommy, he just hugged us tight and said he had to go” He said someday we'd understand And told us not to fuss, " "And he said to tell you, Mommy, " "He's watching over us." The mother knew without a doubt "That what they spoke was true, " "For she recalled their dad's last words, " " I will watch over you." The firemen's notes could not explain "The twisted, Mangled car, And how the three of them escaped without a single scar. "But on the cop's report was scribed, " "In print so very fine, An angel walked the beat tonight on Highway 109”
![]() March 01 ReflectionHey every one, I am going to try and do some thing else with my space then just post song lyrics and poems. I am not really great at writing stuff and making sound really great but I guess that there is no harm in trying. I would adore for any one to let me know what they think. So here goes: Last night I watched an episode of Grey’s anatomy (I am sure that some of you have seen a few episodes too) any way I think it was episode 17 of season 2 part 2. Well the whole episode is around the fact that Meredith (the main protagonist) has her hand in the chest of this guy. The scary thing about it is that this guy has a projectile from a bazooka that has not gone off. So there she is with a hospital full of people in an OR with her hand on a bomb that can explode and kill her, Doctor Burke, the guys from the bomb squad and the other inters. All thought the episode all the other characters do the things that they are scared to miss should they die. Meredith of course thinks about Derek and tries to remember the last time they were together and the last time they kisses The Episode ends with Meredith taking the bomb out of the guy’s chest with out it exploding. However, when the guy from the bomb squad leaves the OR the Bomb does go off killing him and only slightly hurting Meredith that goes to the corridor to see what is happening. The reason I wrote this is cause after watching this episode, I thought to myself what I would wanted to do with the last day of my life. Well the first think that I thought about was being with Fabien (my fiancé) and the people I love. What scared me the most was thinking that you wake up one morning never knowing if you will come back home. I really do think that every day should be treated like it was your last. That is when every heartbeat counts and every person you interact with really becomes part of your life. I haven’t really taken any resolutions for this year but I think that I have just taken a few: Live every day like it was the last. Tell the people that I love that I love them more often. Take care of myself physically, mentally and spiritually. Take care of other people in my life as much as I can Be more present in the lives of my family members and friends. What I would like to know is what you would do should you have be in a situation where you are not sure if you will survive it. In the mean time take care God bless you all

January 22 PANIC! AT THE DISCO"I Write Sins Not Tragedies" Oh, well imagine, as I'm pacing the pews in a church corridor, and I can't help but to hear, no I can't help but to hear an exchanging of words: "What a beautiful wedding! What a beautiful wedding!" says a bridesmaid to a waiter. "And yes, but what a shame, what a shame, the poor groom's bride is a whore." I'd chime in with a "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?!" No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality. I'd chime in, "Haven't you people ever heard of closing a goddamn door?!" No, it's much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of... Well in fact, well I'll look at it this way, I mean technically our marriage is saved Well this calls for a toast, so pour the champagne Oh! Pooh always liked a little something at eleven o'clock in the morning, and he was very glad to see Rabbit getting out the plates and mugs; and when Rabbit said, 'Honey or condensed milk with your bread?' he was so exited that he said, 'Both' and then, so as not to seem greedy, he added, 'But don't bother about the bread, please.' And for a long time after that he said nothing...until at last, humming to himself in a rather sticky voice, he got up, shook Rabbit lovingly by the paw, and said that he must be going on. 'Must you?' said Rabbit politely. 'Well,' said Pooh, 'I could stay a little longer if it-if you-' and he tried very hard to look in the direction of the larder. 'As a matter of fact,' said Rabbit, 'I was going out myself directly.' 'Oh well, then, I'll be going on. Good bye.' 'Well good bye, if you're sure you won't have any more.' 'Is there any more?' asked Pooh quickly. Rabbit took the covers of the dishes, and said 'No, there wasn't.' 'I thought not,' said Pooh, nodding to himself. 'Well Good-bye, I must be going on.'
So he started to climb out of the hole. He pulled with his front paws, and pushed with his back paws, and in a little while his nose was in the open again ... and then his ears ... and then his front paws ... and then his shoulders ... and then-'Oh, help!' said Pooh, 'I'd better go back,' 'Oh bother!' said Pooh, 'I shall have to go on.' 'I can't do either!' said Pooh, 'Oh help and bother!' ...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ...Christopher Robin nodded. 'Then there's only one thing to be done,' he said. 'We shall have to wait for you to get thin again.' 'How long does getting thin take?' asked Pooh anxiously. 'About a week I should think.' 'But I can't stay here for a week!' 'You can stay here all right, silly old Bear. It's getting you out which is so difficult.' 'We'll read to you,' said Rabbit cheerfully. 'And I hope it won't snow,' he added. 'And I say, old fellow, you're taking up a good deal of room in my house - do you mind if I use your back legs as a towel-horse? Because, I mean, there they are - doing nothing - and it would be very convenient just to hang the towels on them. 'A Week!' said Pooh gloomily. 'What about meals?' 'I'm afraid no meals,' said Christopher Robin, 'because of getting thin quicker. But we will read to you.' Bear began to sigh, and then found he couldn't because he was so tightly stuck; and a tear rolled down his eye, as he said: 'Then would you read a Sustaining Book, such as would help and comfort a Wedged Bear in Great Tightness?' So for a week Christopher Robin read that sort of book at the North end of Pooh, and Rabbit hung his washing on the South end... and in between Bear felt himself getting slenderer and slenderer. And at the end of the week Christopher Robin said,
'Now!' So he took hold of Pooh's front paws and Rabbit took hold of Christopher Robin, and all Rabbit's friends and relations took hold of Rabbit, and they all pulled together ... And for a long time Pooh only said 'Ow!' ... And 'Oh!' ... And then, all of a sudden he said 'Pop!' just if a cork were coming out of a bottle. And Christopher Robin and Rabbit and all relations went head-over-heels backwards ...and on top of them came Winnie-the-Pooh free! So with a nod of thanks to his friends, he went on with his walk through the forest, humming proudly to himself. But Christopher Robin looked after him lovingly, and said to himself 'Silly Old Bear!'
I really adore Winnie the Pooh and I have recently startes looking at things on the internet. I think that Winnie that Pooh stories are the nicest ever. I have read a few extracts on the net and this one was the one I liked the most. It full of cute humor and really fun to read. ![]() |
